This was my first attempt at a silhouette!
With a snap-and-shoot camera it was a little tricky but i used some of Susan's tips and focused on the bright sky first and then moved the lens down to snap a darker image of my daughter flying through the air. Fun times.
I wish i could have experimented more but you are right--this weekend was BUSY!
I can't believe I got in the #3 spot this week! It pays to stay up late, lol! Can't wait to see everyone's photos.

I had never deliberately tried to take a silhouette photo before so Susan's tutorial was extremely helpful for me. I just wish I lived close to a beach so I could attempt an awesome shot like the ones she shared with us!
Can't wait to see all of the entries this week everyone. I know I'm going to be wowed!

My first sillouette too! I had fun learning! Can't wait for our next beach trip now!
I drove by this hill near my place one day as the sun was setting. I then told myself that I'd bring my boys with me at some point and get their picture on the hill while the sun was setting. I kind of wish there had be some clouds or something in the sky, but it just turned out so yellow!

Loved this week's theme! It was hard to pick one! I'm excited to see what everyone has come up with!
Everyone has such great photos this week! I think so far this is my favorite theme :)
I always took silhouettes on accident (that's what I get for facing the sun!) and never enjoyed their beauty until now! I LOVED this theme. It's always fun to go on an "assignment" and end up with a great new picture. I had the sun, but I wish I had some interesting cloud patterns to go with it. Now that I have Susan's tutorial to remember, I'll know what to look for!
I'd never tried to take a photo like this on purpose before - it was a lot of fun to 'think outside the box'! :)
I loved this week's challenge and I can't wait to check out some of the other entries.
I didnt get to participate this time around, but allow me to say that this is a great theme. I love so many of the submissions, great job guys!! And I agree with Deb-mom of 3 girls, I would have never taken a picture like this before, but now, Im going to want to get a great silhouette shot once in a while.
I was waiting for this week. This is one of my favorite shots!
This was one of those nights where my daughter ran in the house and said, "Mom! Get your camera!" That's my favorite phrase in the whole world :). The sky was absolutely glorious. And it was gone in a matter of minutes. I can't wait to look at everyone's entries!
Is is just me, or is Mister Linky not there? Bummer.

I loved this weeks theme...It was hard and I read the tutorial twice. Thank you Karen for helping us with this weeks theme...I always thought a silhouette was just an accident, now I know how to do it when I want to, lol...I can't wait until July, I'm going to the beach and I can't wait to try to get some silhouettes there....

This week was so fun! I love learning new things. I LOVE I heart Faces.
I got some amazing silhouettes this past week, we were at the beach :) This challenge came at the perfect time for me. Now if I could just get Mr Linky to show up so I could enter!

What a cool week this will be! Wish I had something as great as Susan Keller's examples. I'm bummed that there's only one category this week since I had such a hard time narrowing down my shots. Oh well, I guess I can use the silhouettes of my kids from the beach for photostory friday now, LOL!

Originally, I wasn't excited about this week's theme, but after taking the pictures I did...Wow! I loved how they turned out and I learned something new! Thanks, ladies!
I have had the most fun looking at all of these photos! I never thought you could get so inspired from a picture where you can't even see the face and often times it's just an outline of a body or object. I think the neat thing with silhouettes is-it could be anyone in the picture!
This week has really challenged me and I love a challenge! Thanks so much! Now I'm really looking forward to going to the beach and testing out my silhouette skills:)

My son has in recent months really started getting into skateboarding. My husband (and the kids) got me a new camera for Mother's Day with an advanced sports setting. It hit me that this category would be perfect getting skate shots of him on his board, at the soccer field, at sunset. We had a great time doing this while his sister was practicing. I took a bunch of shots but this one was one of my favorites.

This is my first time ever entering a contest. I am entering it from my Flickr account because my blog is not up to date and I'm not sure how to do it, to be truthful! :). I tried and tried to copy the link to the "I Heart Faces" logo so I could paste it onto my Flickr page with this contest entry photo, but could not get that to work either. So sorry, but I hope that my photo can still be considered. Thank you for this great website.
I couldn't get my silhouette shoot in this past weekend. I had a three day weekend and all we got was cloudy, gloomy, rainy days. I did submit a picture I took a while back. Maybe next time.

This was my first entry - a friend told me about your contest. This is a great site with lots of good photography tips... my photo was taken before I knew about this contest. I'll be interested to see if I get any comments on it.

This is my first entry ever. My picture's not that great, but I did have fun taking shots of my son and husband in front of our window. Now that I've figured out how to see the contests in advance, I can plan some photo shoots specifically for them. I just remembered I had this one and thought it would be fun to enter. I've enjoyed seeing all the others!

I think my biggest takeaway is to think differently about my lighting situation--seeing contrast and shadowed faces as an opportunity instead of a crummy time for picture taking. I think beautiful silhouettes probably present themselves far more often than we realize.
I never tried to take a silhouette photo before and the tutorial was great. My whole family had fun doing this photo session, and although I think mine turned out nice I am stunned by some of the other amazing entries. WOW!
