It's Fix-It Friday #5! Our weekly event when we take a "not-so-good" photo, give it to our contributors and then sit back in amazement when we see the fix-its they come up with. You can browse through the beautiful edits that our contributors have submitted this week...and then you can play along with us as well!
This week's photo came from
Susan Keller, who told us that this photo of her son was taken while they were on the beach and they realized that they had forgotten the matches they needed to light a fire to make hot cocoa. Her son was in the middle of having a very "pouty moment." :)

Once the photo is edited though, it is just too beautiful to call it "Mr. Pouty" so we're going to go with a more elegant title of "Contemplation."
Here are our contributor's take on how they would fix this photo, "Contemplation":
1) Please click on each photo or contributor's name to take you to a special page where they have explained the steps they took to enhance this photo.
2) Several of our contributors sent in more than one enhanced version of this photo! When you click on their name, it will take you to a page that will show you all of the edited photos they sent to us.
3) Even if you don't own these photo-editing programs, be prepared to learn so much about how to edit your photos. Many fix-it steps are repeatable in a lot of different photo editing programs. Our contributors are just a wealth of information!

And now here is your chance to play along as well! Head on over to our Flickr group and download the photo of "Contemplation" to your computer. Take your time and use the photo program that you own to make beautiful changes to this photo (anything you want...just fix it up as wonderfully as you can.) Then post this photo on your blog. You can post as many versions of this photo in your post as you'd like. Feel free to go to town and have fun with it! (This is not a contest...this is just for fun and to learn more about how to edit photos.)
If you have the time, you might also want to list the photo editing program that you used to enhance the photo and instructions as to how you fixed your photo. The other participants really enjoy this!
For your Mr. Linky name (this name doesn't have to be short since there won't be as many entries in this Mr. Linky) you can even put your name and the name of the photo editing program you used:
For Example: theArthurClan - PS CS3After you do all that, head back to our website and link your post into our Mr. Linky below (you can grab our Friday Fix-It graphic for your post if you'd like to use it.) It will be wonderful to see what you all come up with for this photo!
{Please, please, please don't link in any other photos to this Mr. Linky. This Mr. Linky is here only for the use of those who decide to play along with our "Contemplation" photo.}
(This special Mr. Linky will be up for a few days so you should have plenty of time to fix up the photo and still be able to enter it for everyone to see.)
Thanks for joining in on "Fix-It Friday"...have fun!

Hey, Amy! You go, girl! That was a beautiful version of the photo. I love the cropping and the words in the background.
As always, I loved them all! Teresa always blows my mind with her edits. Jodi's stretched canvas is so cool! Each contributer really brought something unique and special to the table this week.
Happy Fix-it Friday, everyone! Can't wait to see all the edits in Mr. Linky!
It was a lot of fun to be a contributor this week!
Teresa- I really love the dark background and Jodi- We had the same idea about adding text. It seemed like it needed to say something to me.
Everyone's entries were so great. Thanks to each one of you for your time and creativity!

Amy- Love your text, the words themselves are just lovely and truly fit the image. Awesome tight crop. All of the contributors do such great work. I am always eager to see how different everyone's edit will be.
I don't even know where to start this week ~ the contributor's fix-its were all so wonderful!
I love that you can get such an amazing look with a FREE online program (www.picnik.com); Jodi's tutorial on stretching the canvas was way cool (and now PSE people can do that as well thanks to Andrea!); the fix-its all turned out so different and yet each was so beautiful.
Thanks again everyone! I can't wait to go through the Mr. Linky entries to see what everyone else comes up with as well. :)

I really liked Amy's edit because she used Picnik. I use Picnik but I never thought to do the writing on the side like that! She really thinks outside the box - I love learning a new trick! :o)
OMGosh!!! I'm completely in LOVE with all these beautiful edits! Amy's immediately brought tears to my eyes. (Amy - pretty please, can you email me the full-res version ... I'm thinking it belongs in his scrapbook!).
I really like the horizontal crops (both with cloning and canvas stretching). All that "negative" space nicely puts the focus on his face.
Julie - I have lusted after TRA2 just to get that Silver Bullet (and Claire-ify!) action. So, 'twas fun to see it applied to one of my pictures :-).
Thank you, All! This was a picture that I really liked and yet it was so blah, and you all made it magical!!
And now I'm off to learn from Jodi's tutorial and see the Mr. Linky's...
Have I said recently what a very fun site I Heart Faces is?!?!
Great edits everyone! I love the creativity of #1 and #4, but they really all look fantastic!
You all always knock my socks off when I see your edits! Beautiful work, everyone. Susan, thank you for such a wonderful photo to work with, and thanks to all contributors for new inspiration!
I really enjoyed the first photo with the verse. Really nice!
How can I get a full-size download??
McKay Family,
You need to go into our Flickr photostream. After you click on the photo, you will then click on the "All Sizes" button. This will take you to a screen that has the full-size image on it.

I just downloaded the photo and noticed the tear. I didn't notice before that. I'll work on the photo later and perhaps I can keep it and accentuate it somehow. What a dear boy.
My first heart faces! Cheers to new addictions!
Question about stretching for Jodi...can that technique be accomplished in PSE?? If so, how?
McKay-
You're in luck. Yes, you can... and Andrea (#5) already answered your question with specific instruction in her editing section! :-)
Today has been so very fun for me. I'm in LOVE with so many of these beautiful, magical, creative edits of my youngest son.
Thank you, All, for playing along!!
These are all so great! Glad I could join in the fun
These are GREAT!! I had a lot of fun messing around with the photo. Thanks for pointing me to picnik.com!! I have found one of my new favorite websites...and one of my new favorite blogs!!
I {Heart} Andrea. Her tutorials and creativity in teaching us about Elements is great! For the first time ever, I feel like it's okay that I don't have Photoshop CS like the big kids :)
I LOVE these Fix it Fridays!! I especially love the PSE instructions WITH pictures!! THANKS!!!

This is my first go at Fix-it Friday so please drop by and give your comments (Frogmum). I used Picnik - having seen what others have managed with it I decided to give it a go and couldn't resist paying for the full version! Love it too coz I can use it anywhere - bonus! :D Before I worked on this week's I had a go (using free PicniK to check it out) at the red-head fix-it too. I was REALLY pleased with what I acheived with it - PLEASE pop back over there and give me some feedback on that one too. Cheers! Cx
Well, we're late to the game, but my 14 year old daughter LOVES playing with these! Hope we linked correctly! Thanks!
Oh! I linked directly to my blog instead of directly to the post! So sorry! If I did this every week I'd have it straight by now...
